General Information:

The Triumph TR4A is a sport car built by the Triumph Motor Company in the United Kingdom between 1965 and 1967.

Giovanni Michelotti, who was one of the most talented designers in the 20th century, styled the Triumph TR4 in 1961. TheTR4 was a significant step forward over the TR3A, the cars were successfully raced in a wide variety of events and they were in many ways the quintessential British sports car. The Triumph TR4 was built until January 1965 when it was replaced by the Triumph TR4A. The TR4A debuted at Geneva was an evolution of the TR4. Visually the differences are primarily a slightly revised front grille, side flashing indicators and a wood-paneled dashboard, however there was an increase in engine power to 104hp and it featured an impressive and sophisticated addition: independent rear suspension. So significant was the introduction of IRS that a badge was added to the trunk lid proclaiming that the car was so equipped. The TR4As placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class at the 1966 12 Hours of Sebring, so the change paid off on the track as well. The TR4A was introduced with a Globe badge on the bonnet, signifying a return to the original pre-war Triumph badging.
